In a significant development aimed at driving innovation and academic progress, the Tukur Buratai Research Centre (TBRC) and Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) have solidified their partnership, marking a new era of collaboration in research, defence, and security. This strategic alliance was cemented during a high-profile visit by Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Retd.), Chairman of TBRC and former Chief of Army Staff, to NSUK, where he was warmly received by Vice Chancellor Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman.

The visit sought to reinforce the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TBRC and NSUK, fostering joint initiatives that will span across various fields, including scientific research, national defence strategies, and security innovations. General Buratai highlighted the role of the state-of-the-art TBRC facility, which is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure, as a key hub for collaborative research, seminars, workshops, and academic conferences.

Speaking on the occasion, General Buratai, who also holds the traditional titles of Garkuwan Keffi and Betara of Biu Kingdom, expressed his admiration for Professor Liman’s leadership as the first female Vice Chancellor of NSUK. He lauded the university’s remarkable growth and reputation, noting that the partnership between TBRC and NSUK is poised to make a significant impact on national development.

General Buratai also shed light on ongoing research projects at TBRC, such as groundbreaking work in Python medicine and anti-toxin studies. He extended an invitation to NSUK departments, particularly in the fields of agriculture, zoology, biochemistry, and botany, to engage in these innovative initiatives.

“We are excited to collaborate with NSUK, leveraging each other’s strengths to drive innovation and progress,” General Buratai said. “Our research centre is committed to advancing knowledge and addressing critical challenges in various fields. We believe that this partnership will yield remarkable outcomes and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s development.”

In response, Professor Liman expressed her gratitude for the collaboration and emphasized NSUK’s academic strengths. She highlighted the university’s capabilities in various departments and reaffirmed NSUK’s dedication to achieving outstanding results through this partnership.

“We are eager to work with TBRC, exploring opportunities for joint research, student exchange programs, and capacity building,” Professor Liman stated. “Our university is dedicated to academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. This partnership aligns with our mandate and will undoubtedly enhance our research output and academic programs.”

The historic partnership between TBRC and NSUK is a pivotal moment in the quest for academic excellence and innovative research in Nigeria. By combining their expertise and resources, both institutions are well-positioned to address pressing challenges in various sectors and contribute to the nation’s progress.

General Buratai was accompanied on the visit by notable figures, including the Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Army University Biu, Professor Kyari, and the former Army Spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (Retd.). Also present were principal staff officers of the university, further underscoring the significance of this collaboration.
