About Us

DefenceTimesng, is a Nigerian Defence and Security News Hub based in Abuja with a vision to help strengthen and promote Nigeria Military and defence community to advance the socio-economic wellbeing and rights of serving and retired personnel of various security agencies, promote and enrich their cultural and professional practices and advocate for best welfare, good governance, transparency and human rights, in line with the values expected of a modern democratic state.

Our Background

In Nigeria, there is a perception shared towards the Army, Airforce, Navy and all uniformed men; they are often condemned and criticised but rarely ever praised. It is a mixture of knocks and praises. Some people have a good understanding and full of commendation, while others are ill-informed and ignorant of what military service and life is all about. Therefore, do not appreciate or understand the complexities and sacrifices of an average Nigerian Soldiers, let alone appreciate its noble contribution to our peace, security and national development. But the most worrisome aspect is the fact that some unpatriotic citizens, detractors and disgruntled elements who envy the successes and achievements of the leadership of the Nigerian Military, for some inexplicable reasons seems to be behind these campaigns of calumny. They are the ones fanning the embers of hatred, disinformation and false narratives about the Nigerian Military at war with several non-state actors nation-wide.

Defence Timesng, founded in mid  2015, as we bring a huge commitment to offer our country the type of media that will advocate for the people and nudge our nation on the path of development and social reengineering aimed appreciating and acknowledging the sacrifices of our service men.

We have come to fill that lacuna in our press and social media and therefore raise the bar of journalism in our country to acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices of our service men. We will publish across all formats beginning with this online platform where we hope to appeal to the bulk of our young and middle class elites with a vision of the future and a belief in building a stronger armed force who’s influence will be largely felt in all environment. We have certified Open Source Analyst who avail us with relevant technology to spot and counter Fake News, Terrorist propaganda and campaign of calumny against the Defence and Security community.
